YOVANI BAUTA

Visual Artist

Was born in Cuba. At age twenty he graduated as Professor of Painting and Drawing at the National School of Art. Later he obtained a Law Degree from the University of Havana. He spent six years as a lawyer and in 1983 resigned due to ideological disagreements with the Cuban Government. Once again, he turned to the visual arts and began to paint. In 1991, he is invited to exhibit at the Biennial of Havana and in 1992 travels to exhibit in the Canary Islands, Spain. In 1993 he arrives in New York to give a talk about Cuban Art at Harvard University. Eventually he travels to Miami where he becomes Art Instructor and Art Event Coordinator at Miami Dade College until his retirement in 2012. Since then, Bauta has been exclusively and professionally immersed in his painting. He has lectured and taught at several universities in the United States and todaymaintains an open art studio for anyone -young or old - interested in painting.
