TONY WEISBERG

Abstract artist

Wet leaves on a pavement after rain, a figure seen from behind walking away, a mosaic tile, a seed pod, a face, an insect, or the geometry of a shape—any of these can spark an idea for a painting. Once an idea takes hold and the painting begins, the finished work often evolves into something quite different from the original concept. For this reason, each painting becomes an adventure for Tony Weisberg.

Tony Weisberg began painting after a career in law. After taking just two art classes, he started experimenting with a wide range of techniques, both conventional and unconventional. Although watercolor is his chosen medium, his technique resembles that of an oil painter, producing saturated colors and fine detail. His work blends elements of reality, fantasy, and geometric abstraction.

Tony Weisberg has held several solo exhibitions in Portland, Maine, and Miami Beach, Florida. His work has also been included in juried exhibitions in Maine and Maryland, and his paintings are held in private collections in the United States, Germany, and Sweden.
